Todd Broeker (StDA Colorist) posted a message (at the Devil's Pawn Tavern) in response to some Fan concern about NO Letters page in the latest issue of StDA. This is important stuff for fans of ANY comic title, and I hope everyone takes it to heart:

- THE IMPORTANCE OF LETTERS -

Todd Broeker writes:

In fact, I would like to respond to the latest discussion of the importance of the letters column. Letters are very important to Todd in trying to gauge the readership and popularity of a book. To him, it's more tangible than sales figures, because it shows him that people are actually buying the books. Sales from retailers just show what was ordered, which isn't as powerful as knowing there's a consumer who bought, read, and processed a book, and were inspired enough to write a letter to TMP. Filling out a survey to entice the readers to write is a great idea, as are contests, if we were talking about a more mainstream product. There are several things working against these notions.

So, the best way to insure the future of StDA, and comics in general, is to start sending letters to Brad Gould, managing editor at TMP. I'm going to talk to him about the possibility of sending your letters directly to a TMP email, since that would make life easier for all. If you could post letters on Spawn.com to be used in the book, I'd help get that going. I'll see what I can do. When I find out more, I'll let you know. For now, I urge all of you to at least take some of your message postings and put them in letter form and get them to TMP, to keep the book alive.

PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! If you have a comic you love, whether it is StDA or something else, don't just expect someone else to send in a letter. Take 15 minutes and punch out your own thoughts and mail them in. As Todd Broeker, someone who works for TMP clearly tells us above, letters are VERY important to the survival of each and every title put out.
